Star-Spangled Banner Quilt Wrap-Up, part 1

First, a huge and heartfelt THANK YOU to everyone who participated, contributed, donated their time, talent, and money to the Genea-Quilters' Star-Spangled Banner Quilt, whose initial purpose was to raise money for the "Preserve the Pensions" fund.  Due to the announcement that the 1812 Pensions Preservation project was fully funded, we will soon be deciding on where to donate the money that was raised by the quilt.

Let's take a moment to appreciate just how beautiful it turned out:

And now for the winner of the quilt: A list of all those who participated in some way - whether by creating a block or donating directly - was created and numbered, then run through a randomizer program, to randomly re-order and re-number the list.

A trusted member of the genealogy community, completely unaffiliated with this project, was asked to pick a number, without any other information given to him. (I don't even think I told him why he was picking a number until after he'd done so!)  Thomas MacEntee chose the number that was next to the name of the very, very lucky...

Diane Giannini!

Congratulations Diane!

FOR THOSE OF YOU ATTENDING ROOTSTECH:
The quilt will be brought and displayed at the Media Hub on Saturday, February 11, at about 12:15 p.m.  Please feel free to stop by and see this beautiful quilt at that time.  Photos will be posted, naturally, for those who won't be there in person.

Thank you, thank you, thank you all again for being so willing to participate in this fun project!

(In case you're wondering, part 2 will be posted when we donate the money raised.)
